Brunello, Barolo and Barbaresco!
Monday Jun 22, 2020
Monday Jun 22, 2020
Do you remember your elementary school days? There were the small desks and short water fountains. You stayed in one classroom, but the subject you were learning about changed throughout the day. Oh, and don’t forget about recess! The best time of the day!
Back then, the three Rs were all the rage! Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. It is said that there are three learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. For wine lovers, kinesthetic is definitely our favorite modality. The best way to learn about wine is to taste it and over the last few months I was privileged to taste my way through the Three Bs of Italy.
On today’s episode, I am sharing another Raid Y(our) Cellar virtual event I attended hosted by Benchmark Wine Group on Barolo and Barbaresco made from Nebbiolo and Brunello which is made from Sangiovese. Better known as the Three Bs.
These virtual tastings are free to join but you may want to contribute in support of the United Sommeliers Foundation, a non for profit organization that helps wine industry professionals during times of hardship. If you’d like to make a donation you can click here.
Now, unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and lets discuss the 100% Nebbiolo regions of Barolo and Barbaresco.

Drinking IPA with Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders Brewing
Monday Jun 15, 2020
Monday Jun 15, 2020
Man cannot live on wine alone! No matter how much we try! But in all seriousness, as a winemaker, we admittedly drink a lot of wine, but sometimes our palate just craves something different. When that happens, we turn to beer and usually IPA. I can be found on untapped as lodolphin. If you are on that app, give me a follow and you’ll see exactly how much IPA I drink!
While we have been in confinement, virtual has taken on a whole new meaning. I have sat down and virtually clinked with many friends and although it doesn’t replace the in real life experience, it is really nice to at least be able to see the faces. Thank you to Gregory and Vine for putting this virtual tasting together with Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders Brewing.
So unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle – or pop open an IPA and listen in to the conversation.

Virtual Wine Tasting with Dracaena Wines
Monday May 25, 2020
Monday May 25, 2020
HI everyone! I hope this podcast finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. In today’s world, with tasting rooms closed (hopefully starting to open this week!) people are still looking to wine to comfort them and to pass the hours by. Many wineries have gone to virtual tastings.
Dracaena Wines, as you may know does not have a tasting room, but these times have greatly affected us also. Normally the weekends of these months would spent at different winery events introducing our wines to new customers. Without these events, it is extremely difficult to reach new customers, so, we too have turned to virtual tastings.
In today’s episode, listen in to some of what we discuss during a live tasting. Keep in mind that it is only a sample of what we discuss during a virtual tasting. The idea is to wet your whistle, not give you the whole enchilada, so there are segways into different portions of the event.
If this does peak your interest and you would like to schedule your own virtual event with Dracaena Wines, please reach out in an email at contact@dracaenawines.com or use the contact us form on the site. We appreciate your support and we are confident that you will enjoy the event but we know you will love the wine!
Enjoy!

Walking the Vineyards with Francesco Ricasoli
Monday May 11, 2020
Monday May 11, 2020
Located in the center of Chianti Classico stands an impressive castle that dates back to the middle ages. The Brolio Castle is the home of the oldest winery in Italy and the once home of Baron Ricasoli. The Ricasoli family has played an important role in not just the Chianti wine industry but also to the existence of Italy as a unified country itself.
On today’s episode, join me as we were guided through the vineyards and the winery by Francesco Ricasoli himself.

Glera on Winephabet Street
Monday May 04, 2020
Monday May 04, 2020
Welcome to another episode of Exploring the Wine Glass. Today we return to Winephabet Street. So sweep those clouds away and come where the wine is neat. Come join me on Winephabet Street.
Today’s letter of the day is G and it stands for Glera. Originally known as Prosecco, but as the region became a DOCG in 2009, the name was changed to Glera, the variety term to avoid confusion. Although the true origin of Glera is not proven, it is generally accepted that it originates from Prosecco, which is located near the Italian-Slovenian border.
Today I am drinking Terre de San Venanzio Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Fortunato. In between you raising a glass of Prosecco to your lips, please swipe to rate and review the podcast so that others can find me. Thank you.

Dina Mande; Director and Producer, Tin City
Monday Apr 27, 2020
Monday Apr 27, 2020
As we continue to social isolate, there seems to be more and more time for television. I actually finally signed up for Netflix – I may have been the last person on earth who wasn’t watching Tiger King – and now, I must admit it is freak show that you just can’t turn away from.
When I wasn’t watching the freak show, I scrolled over to Amazon Prime and found a movie titled Tin City. I was introduced to the film late last year through an email from a marketing team, but never had time to watch, so I figured, now was as good a time as any.
For anyone who follows my blog or listens to this podcast, you know that I adore Paso Robles. That’s where we chose to start our winery and where we see ourselves for the rest of our lives, and we have personally seen how Tin City has grown. Not only has it grown, but it has played a major role in the increasing recognition that Paso Robles has seen. Plus, it is just a great place to visit. You will often see us there, especially after a long day of wine sitting and enjoying some Barrel House Brew.
Enjoy listening as I interview Dina Mande, director and producer of the film, Tin City. - "A documentary featuring rebellious creative winemakers, brewers and distillers working at the razor's edge of their craft. "

Exploring Rias Baixas Albarino
Monday Apr 20, 2020
Monday Apr 20, 2020
I hope that my podcasts are helping you through the long days of social distancing. As we begin another week, I wish safety and health to all of you.
Today’s podcast is another virtual tasting trip. This one took me to, although I have never been, one of my favorite places on earth. I can close my eyes and take a sip of wine from this region and I can see myself walking on a stunning sand beach. I imagine myself in the center of the most beautifully green land that I have ever seen. There are women diving for crustaceans and of course there is wine.
Although the region does produce some lovely red wines, they are known for their whites. Their reputation for salinity and acidity in their wines, makes winelovers crave them. And today a group of wine lovers got together over Zoom, and enjoyed a glass of Albarino together while learning about the magnificent wine region known as Rias Baixas.
Thank you to Gregory and Vine for arranging this happy hour and thanks to the wonderful wine educators , Rick Fisher and Kat Thomas for leading the journey.
Please take the time to subscribe, rate and review Exploring the Wine Glass and if you are on the socials, please give me a shout out and let me know your thoughts on unicorn wines!
