Oh, and of course… we drink some wine. So unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and enjoy learning all about the Greek grape varietal Assyrtiko.

Wacky World of Wine 2
Monday Oct 28, 2019
Monday Oct 28, 2019
Welcome to Exploring the Wine Glass podcast sponsored by Dracaena Wines. Today I’m sitting down with my best buddy Nick Berube, aka Wine Comm Guy and we laugh our way through the Wacky World of Wine. We first thank PG&E for shutting down the wine industry by shutting off power, except for a few specific areas. Then Napa Valley vineyard owner going to jail for faking his daughter’s SAT exam, then we travel to Russia, where a man really really needed a bottle of wine and wrap it up with wine made from three penises. Yes- you heard that correctly. And by the way.. This one, you may want your ear buds in.

Michael Meagher on Rias Baixas
Monday Oct 21, 2019
Monday Oct 21, 2019
Welcome to Exploring the Wine Glass podcast. On these types of episodes, I sit down with one person in the wine industry, share a glass and discuss the how, where, what and why they fell in love with wine. I have renamed this series The Allure of the Pour, since we all love the sound of the wine as it fills our glass with anticipation. Today, I sit down with Michael Meagher, Master Sommelier. Find out more about Michael on his website sommelier on demand.
A few years ago, thanks to the wine education program, Wine Studio, I was introduced to Albarino and the wines of Rias Baixas. In all honesty, it was love at first sip and I have become an advocate for the region, talking about it to anyone who will listen. Earlier this month, I was invited to a Master Class on Rias Baixas hosted by Gregory & Vine. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but thankfully Stefanie Schwalb was able to arrange this one on one for me! She is the best!! I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
If you like what you hear, please give us a 5 star review, and tell us what you love about the podcast. Each review helps others find us! We ruly do appreciate your support.

Roger Bissell, Italian Master Somm
Monday Oct 14, 2019
Monday Oct 14, 2019
Welcome to Exploring the Wine Glass podcast. On this series that I have renamed The Allure of the Pour, I sit down with Roger Bissell.
About one year ago, I was invited to a Master Class on the wines of Macedonia. I was intrigued. I had never had wine from there, and thought it would be an excellent educational experience. I was so happy after the class to find out that I was right. Roger Bissell, the Master Somm who ran the class, was not only informative, but entertaining.
After the class, we chatted a bit, and I truly enjoyed the conversation. When he reached out a few months ago asking about the podcast, I knew it was going to be a great interview. Once again, I was right! After listening to this podcast, if you would like to learn more about the wines of Macedonia, please give listen to episode 77!
If you like what you hear, please give us a 5 star review, so that others can find us! We appreciate your support.

Simon Solis Cohen; Entrepreneur & Consultant for Wine Industry
Monday Oct 07, 2019
Monday Oct 07, 2019
On this episode of Exploring the Wine Glass, I sit down with Simon Solis Cohen of Tating Merchants, your online resource for small batch wines. I first met Simon on Instagram. I may have mixed feelings about the platform, but in this case it proved to know what it was doing when they recommended Tasting Merchants.
I clicked the follow button and liked several of the photos, and then there was a DM. We conversed a few times within Instagram and then decided a phone call was in order. I spoke with him as I was walking the very loud streets of NYC and we discussed how I can help promote not only his business, but the wineries he supports.
Shortly after, I received two samples; a Cabernet Franc and a Grenache Blanc; both of which I enjoyed and posted on my social media channels.
Join me today, as I interview Simon and find out more about him, Tasting Merchants, the two wines I sampled as well as other wineries in his portfolio.

Katie Madigan; Winemaker at St. Francis Winery
Monday Sep 30, 2019
Monday Sep 30, 2019
Today I sit down with Katie Madigan. Katie is the rockstar winemaker for St. Francis Winery in Santa Rosa, CA. Her name may not be known in every winelover’s household today, but I know we will be hearing more great things about her in the upcoming years. We sat down and discussed how she went from pursuing a Chemistry major at UC Santa Barbara to being named Female Winemaker of the Year! We also talked through four wines in her portfolio. I didn’t have time to taste them, but after our conversation, I can’t wait to pop the corks on them!
As you are listening if you could please take the time to scroll through to rate and review the podcast on Apple podcasts! I have no idea why, but it’s the reviews that matter in the iTunes algorithm to help get Exploring the Wine Glass suggested to more people!

The Dahl Murder; True Crime and Wine
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Hey everyone! Welcome to Exploring the Wine Glass! I have something very special for you today! It is something completely different. I think that most podcasters also listen to podcasts. I mean, otherwise how else would we have caught the bug to get behind the mic? I’m always curios what podcasts people enjoy listening to and of course, am constantly looking for new ones to fill my que. Besides a multitude of wine podcasts, the other categories that I love to listen to are true crime and supernatural.
Today, I thought it would be intriguing to cross over into another realm. Of course, I am not changing gears completely. I don’t think I could ever give up talking about wine. But I definitely could merge the two! So today, I am bringing you True Crime and Wine. I hope you enjoy!

Cary Gott of Calla Lily Winery
Monday Sep 16, 2019
Monday Sep 16, 2019
The name Calla Lily comes from a Greek word for beauty. At some point during the 19th century, flowers began to be associated with the expression of specific feelings and the stunning cone shaped calla lily became the symbol of youth and rebirth. You will often find it in arrangements that are sent for major transitions, such as births and new beginnings. It is also the symbol of the latest wine venture for fourth generation winemaker Cary Gott.
On this episode of Exploring the Wine Glass, I sit down with Cary and learn all about Pope Valley, Calla Lily and his “hand holding get you into the wine industry” business. While you are listening, please scroll down and rate us as well as leaving us a review. In just over two years I have amazingly almost 21K downloads and your reviews are what helps other people find me! I would love to read your review on the next podcast!
If you would like to learn even more about Calla Lily and Cary Gott, please read my blog post at Youth, Rebirth and a Fourth Generation Winemaker bit.ly/gottcl

Monday Sep 09, 2019
Monday Sep 09, 2019
Welcome back to Winephabet Street! It is hard to believe that we have been doing this for 26 months! Yep, that’s right. Today’s letter of the day is Z and it stands for the mighty Zinfandel. This is a grape variety that has played a major role in the history of wine in the United States. One, which since the beginning of Winephabet Street, had the longest and easiest to find history. So settle in, uncork, unscrew or saber a bottle and join in the fun as we wrap up the first season of Winephabet Street.

Lea Tirard-Hersant Teaches Me Some French for Winelovers
Monday Sep 02, 2019
Monday Sep 02, 2019
Hey everyone! Thanks for listening in today! I had the pleasure of sitting down with Lea Tirard-Hersant, developer of the Staircase program. Born and raised in Anju, France, Lea turned her love of linguistics into a booming business.
You may be thinking to yourself, well, what does that have to do with wine? It has a whole lot to do with it! Lea has many students who are in the wine industry and have learned French in preparation for their internships or harvest experiences in France.
She even gave me a spontaneous lesson! One I think I failed miserably at, but she says I did quite well. I’ll let you be the judge!
While your listening, please swipe or scroll and subscribe rate and review Exploring the Wine Glass. It’s a great way to show your support, let me know who is listening and help others to find us!
Learn French at thestaircase.org and let them know you heard about them from Exploring the Wine Glass. Remember there is a free option and the private tutoring is really value priced!
