Monday Aug 16, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I sat down with John Merrick of Mea Wines and enjoyed a glass of his award winning Vermentino. A fellow Paso Robles winemaker, I enjoyed the first in person Allure of the Pour in almost two years! Mea Wines’ tasting room is located in Atascadero, just a short drive from downtown Paso. Have you rated and reviewed Exploring the Wine Glass yet? I know it seems weird, I have no clue why.. But each review makes such a difference in the eye of the all knowing algorithm of iTunes. Please help other winelovers find me! Thank you and enjoy the conversation. Slainte!

It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today we return to Winephabet Street, where the letter of the day is U for Ugni Blanc.
Ugni Blanc is also known as Trebbiano and an Italian wine grape, one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world. Its high acidity makes it important in Cognac. And I got to sit down with Eric Forget, cellar master and Julien Boiteau, vineyard manager of Hine Cognac. Thank you to Hine Cognac for sponsoring this episode.

It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I sit down with Jules Taylor of Jules Taylor Wines in New Zealand, just in time for National White Wine Day. The wine holiday may be August 4th, but we celebrated a bit early by opening a bottle of her delicious Pinot Gris. What bottle will you open this Wednesday to celebrate? And while you are clinking a glass of your favorite white wine, please take a moment to rate and review Exploring the Wine Glass to help other wine lovers find me!

It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today we return to Winephabet Street, where the letter of the day is T for Tavel.
As a podcaster, I of course listen to other podcasts, and one of my favorites is Glass in Session by Val Caruso. Quite some time ago, she did an episode on Tavel and her passion for the wine and region was contagious. When it came time for Winephabet Street to discuss Tavel, I immediately asked her if she would join us and share her knowledge and luckily she agreed.
I would also like to thank CHÂTEAU D’AQUERIA for supplying Debbie and me with delicious samples to sip upon as we learn about this Rosé region. A big thank you to Diana of Kobrand Corporation for arranging the samples.

It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I am bringing you something a little different. I will be talking about the Irish folklore wine loving cousin of the leprechaun… the clurichaun. Stories of the clurichaun date back centuries and they have always intrigued me, so I wanted to introduce you to these jovial, but territorial little fellas.

Do We Need Different Wine Glasses for Every Variety?
Monday Jul 12, 2021
Monday Jul 12, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I sit down with some wine writer friends and we discuss whether hyper specific wine glasses are a necessity or a luxury.
Last month I read an article in Wine Enthusiast written by Kelly A. Magyarics titled "Is Hyperspecific Wine Stemware Worth It?" As I was reading it, I looked at the glasses in my china cabinet, where I have loads of wine glasses, that remain in the cabinet more than on my table, I thought this is a great topic for a Wine Writers' Wrap Up.

What the Heck are Shrubs? Wicked Bess
Monday Jul 05, 2021
Monday Jul 05, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I am talking Shrubs with William Caines, owner and head shrub maker at Wicked Bess.
Will reached out to me on Instagram and asked if I would be interested in sampling his shrubs. After telling him I was completely clueless about shrubs but was interested, he graciously sent me three samples. I proceeded to make an IG video of me mixing a drink; of which I completely messed up the proportions. But damn, that drink was good! Will shared my video and mentioned I used too much shrub, I laughed and then decided the only way I'd learn about shrubs was to have him on the podcast and share his knowledge.

Talking Armenian Wine with Storica Wines
Monday Jun 28, 2021
Monday Jun 28, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I am sharing a glass with Ara Sarkissian from Storica Wines.
Storica Wines is located in Armenia and I was so excited to learn about long wine history (about 6,000 years of history) of Armenian wine and how the geopolitical conflict and politics affected the history of winemaking in the country. And fo course we did a little tasting!
We talk about the oldest wine producing facility that has been found. The Areni cave complex dates back to around 4000 BC as well as some of the indigenous grapes that are cultivated. Including the most common red grape Areni and the white grape Voskehat.

La Rioja Alta
Monday Jun 21, 2021
Monday Jun 21, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I sit down with Julio Saenz, head winemaker for La Rioja Alta. His original career was as a pharmaceutical chemist. But once he fell in love with wine, it returned to school to obtain his degree in viticulture and oenology. La Rioja Alta was his first winemaking job and he has never regretted it nor did he ever look back.
We discuss La Rioja as a region, what makes it so special and the stories behind four wines in the La Rioja Alta portfolio; Gran Reservas 890 and 904 as well as the Viña Arana, the Gran Reserva 2014.
While you are listening, I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to scroll down and rate and review the podcast.

Bastien Leduc; Seven Oxen Wines
Monday Jun 14, 2021
Monday Jun 14, 2021
It’s Monday, Let’s raise a glass to the beginning of another week. It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I sit down with Bastien Leduc, the winemaker for Seven Oxen Winery in Paso Robles.
They say you never know when an opportunity will come knocking, and today’s podcast is a prime example of that. When a friend of the Neal family’s daughter was getting married to Bastien, the topic of wine obviously came up. Bastien’s passion was infectious and the Neal family caught it.
When the Neals purchased property on the West Side of Paso, they welcomed Bastien to the Seven Oxen Estate Wines family as Vineyard Manager and Winemaker.
