The vibe is fun and the wines are exceptional… plus he donates a portion of the proceeds of each of his wines to different charities. Today’s podcast is a bit of a diversion from the typical, but it is a topic that is extremely important to me. Supporting our veterans. This Memorial Day, many Paso Robles wineries will be participating in Vino for Vets. Each winery will be doing something different, but they all will be helping to raise funds for Honor Flight Central Coast California. The mission of the charity is to honor all of America’s veterans by taking them to Washington D.C. on their “Tour of Honor” for no cost to them.
This Memorial Day weekend stop by Dracaena Wines along with about 30 other wineries to drink for a cause. And the next time you see a veteran, be sure to thank them for their service and welcome them home.

Today, I am sharing the audio of an online webinar I attended in April for Oregon Wine Month. There will be more to follow, so stay tuned. I have fallen in love with Oregon wines. So many wineries have captured beautiful expressions of the varieties. But today’s conversation is about one that I am not too familiar with - Sparkling wines in Oregon. I believe I have only had one or two, so this was an exciting topic.

It’s time to unscrew, uncork or saber a bottle and let’s begin Exploring the Wine Glass! Today I am sharing with you a Zoom event I attended about Bordeaux Terroir. Terroir is defined as the complete natural environment in which a particular wine is produced, including factors such as the soil, topography, and climate. It also relates to the characteristic taste and flavor imparted to a wine by the environment in which it is produced.
Bordeaux is a very regulated wine region and I am a believer that you can taste their soils in the glass. Whether you are in the Left or the Right Bank, within the AOCs there are differences that present themselves in the glass. Join me as I learn more about the soils of Bordeaux in this seminar presented by Benchmark Wine.

Today, we return to an Allure of the Pour episode. I sat down with Gonzalo Bertelsen, head winemaker for Viñedos Veramonte in Chile. This past Saturday was Earth Day, and I hope everyone listening raised a glass and did one extra thing to help preserve our little planet. Today, I am sharing a Master Class on Cab Franc and Cab Franc Day. As the founder of Cab Franc Day, it always blows my mind when I see an event like this happening. Thanks to Neeta and Kunal Mittal of LXV in Paso Robles for putting together this incredible event. Thanks to Wes Hagen for his wonderful presentation celebrating the best grape variety!
The event took place in a large barrel room, so I apologize upfront for the quality of the sound, but I hope you stick it out because there is great conversation and the comparative tasting is extremely educational.

Today, we return to Winephabet Street, where the letter of the day is J and it stands for Jampal! Never heard of it? There’s a good reason for that. There are only approximately 32 hectares planted. It is an indigenous grape variety from Portugal, and we had the opportunity to learn all about it with Master of Wine Dirceau Vianna Junior.
