Back in September I read a blog post written by Robin Bell Renker in which she discussed Dineen Vineyards Cabernet Franc. And as you know, when I hear Cab Franc, my ears perk up! I reached out to Marissa Dineen and asked if she would be interested in chatting up Cab Franc. It took a bit of time due to this year’s crazy harvest, but we finally got to sit down and share a glass together.

Sometimes, the stars align and an accident happens that turns into a great opportunity. I had reached out to West Sonoma Coast AVA for some information and about 2 weeks later I received an email from Cleo Pahlmeyer. Although I knew who she was, I didn’t know why she was reaching out. As it turns out, there was some miscommunication with the AVA’s association, but it opened the door for this incredible fantastic interview about Cleo and Wayfarer Vineyard.

Today, I am sitting down with Gibsey and Josh Beckett of Thibido Winery in Paso Robles. Josh comes from a long history of wine in the region, working with his parents and even creating his own label with his brother, but he was still searching for more. Together, he and Gibsey are fulfilling their dream of owning and farming their own estate vineyard. Thibido wines labels have unique names and the wines inside are just as distinctive.

From Corsica to Napa; St. Supery leads the way in sustainability with being Napa Green Land certified since 2008. Their dedication to quality is represented in the 2018 Rutherford Estate Vineyard Merlot.

Today, I am returning to the love of all things Merlot! I had the pleasure of sitting down with Josh Harp, winemaker for Jada Vineyards in Paso Robles. The day started with a tour of the facility and a stroll around to see all the new things that are happening at the beautiful site on the West side of Paso. This is the second time I have had Josh on the podcast. If you would like to listen to the first one, it is episode 201. In that episode we talk more about the winery and its beginnings - including why they have a wine called Jersey Girl! During the interview, which was recorded on site, you may hear some background noise as it was recorded at the winery and a few head shakes from Vegas as he was visiting the dog friendly Jada Vineyards with me.

Today, we return to Winephabet Street where the letter of the day is “F” and it stands for Frappato. We had the honor of talking with Pietro Russo, head winemaker for Donnafugata winery in Sicily. Frappato is a component, with Nero d'Avola, of the island's only DOCG wine, Cerasuolo di Vittoria. We talked about the grape’s history, general characteristics, and food pairings and had the pleasure of tasting the incredible wine.

Today, I am bringing you something special for Halloween. There is a lot of history tied to wine and wineries and where there is history, there are stories of ghosts. I love ghost stories. I have been known to try to call out ghosts, much to the embarrassment of my husband and friends. I have requested specific rooms that ghosts have been reported to frequent. In the end, I have come to the conclusion that I am just too eager for the ghosts, because they never show themselves to me. But there is always another hotel or winery, so I’ll keep trying!
